Total and partial esters of hyaluronic acid with aliphatic, araliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic alcohols and salts of the partial esters with organic or inorganic bases, with the exception of the total methyl ester of hyaluronic acid, and new. Also new are (1) pharmaceutical prepn. contg. (i) as active ingredient the new esters and salts or a total methyl ester of hyaluronic acids, with an acceptable excipient or carrier; or (ii) pharmacologically active material(s), with the new esters/ slats as carrier opt. together with hyaluronic acids or salts, and opt. usual excipients; (2) cosmetic articles contg. any of the above ester/salts; (3) sanitary and surgical articles contg. oany of the above ester/salts; (4) prepn. of acidic polysaccharide esters contg. carboxy gps., in which a quat. ammonium salt of the polysaccharide is treated with an esterifying agent in an aprotic solvent, and opt. free carboxy gps. are satified in the partial esters obtd., or satified gps. are released in them. |
