A multiplexer has an enable/disable control circuit including a data input stage (310), an output stage (320), control signal input buffer stage (330), and an enable/ disable control stage (340), which gates the enable/disable control signal with channel select control signals, and the resulting signal is applied to the data input gates (310). As a result, a separate input terminal for the enable/disable control signal to each of the gates in the data input stage (310) and a separate buffer for driving the large numbe of data input stage with the enable/disable control signal are not required.
