PURPOSE:To improve quality of the subject compound without generating an amine decomposed substance by changing an activation point of a catalyst with adding water into a reaction system in obtaining the subject compound from ethyleneamine and ethanolamine using niobium oxide carried in a carrier as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:In reacting ethyleneamine and ethanolamine as raw materials using niobium oxide carried in a carrier as a catalyst, water is added to the reaction system (preferably added before or during the reaction) and decompos ing reaction in initial stage of the reaction is suppressed to afford the aimed compound having high quality. As the adding water, either of gas or liquid may be used and also may be contained in the catalyst in an amount of 1-40 wt.% of the catalyst. Otherwise, the water may be contained in the raw material preferably in an amount of 1-25 wt.% of the raw material. Reaction temperature is 200-350 deg.C and reaction pressure is 1-100kg/cm<2>G in case of liquid-phase reac tion. |
