PURPOSE:To improve thermal response and pencil writing properties by laminating a thermal recording layer containing specific ether compound and a protecting layer consisting of specific water-soluble polymer and pigment sequentially on a paper support. CONSTITUTION:Respectively specified amounts of an electron-donative colorless dye precursor, an electron-receptive compound and a compound expressed by formula I (X or Y is an alkoxy group and the other is a halogen atom) are dispersed in a water-soluble binder solution, and thereby an application liquid for a thermal recording layer is prepared. In addition, pigment is dispersed in an aqueous solution of water-soluble polymer which shows a value higher than 1kg/mm of tear strength at film making temperature of 20 deg.C and relative humidity of 60%, and thereby an application liquid for a protecting layer is prepared. The application liquid for the thermal recording layer is applied and dried on a paper support to form the thermal recording layer. Then on the thermal recording layer, the application liquid for the protecting layer is applied and dried to laminate the protecting layer. Thus a thermal recording material is obtained. |
