PURPOSE:To rapidly hydrate and convert nitrile group of a nitrile compound to amide group and efficiently obtain the titled industrially important compound in the presence of a trace amount of a catalyst under mild temperature condition, by using a novel water-soluble enzyme protein as the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble enzyme protein consisting of heterologous two kinds of subunits is used as a catalyst to hydrate and convert nitrile group of a nitrile compound and afford an amide compound. The above-mentioned enzyme protein is a novel substance and preferably obtained by cultivating a sp. AK-32 strain (FERM-P No.8269) belonging to the genus Rhodococcus in a culture medium containing an added inducer and collecting from microbial cells according to a conventional method. |
