The present invention is concerned with a system for quantifying colour, which enables physical and chemical parameters, being sensed by chromatic modulators to be measured unambiguously and with high precision. The system comprises at least two discrete colour detectors which have respective response characteristics such that the output signals X, Y ... of the detectors correspond respectively to X=?
