PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material capable of high quality image in a printing part by laminating an undercoat layer consisting of a binding agent, a thermally recording layer and a protecting layer containing water-soluble polymer, silica of specific average particle diameter and calcium carbonate sequentially on a paper support. CONSTITUTION:An undercoat layer consisting of a binding agent and pigment is provided on a paper support and a thermal recording layer containing an electron-donative colorless dye precursor and an electron-receptive compound are laminated on the undercoat layer. In addition, a protecting layer consisting of pigment of silica having an average particle diameter of 2.0 to 5.0mum and soft calcium carbonate having an average particle diameter of 0.5-2.0mum as well as of water-soluble polymer is laminated on the thermal recording layer. Thus a thermal recording material is formed. Furthermore, if starch particles are blended at the ratio of 5.0 to 50.0weight% for the total weight of the protecting layer in the protecting layer, pencil writing properties are further improved and the optimization of the thermal recording material is ensured. |
