PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a drug such as an anti-AIDS agent and antiviral agent or its intermediate in high yield and purity by hydrolyzing a specific nucleoside compound in a solution in the presence of a cyclodextrin and an inorganic salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula III or formula IV can be produced by hydrolyzing a nucleoside compound of formula I or formula II (B is nucleic acid base; R<1> and R<2> are 1-12C hydrolyzable acyl; X is H, halogen, 1-12C alkyl or 1-12C acyl) in a solution in the presence of a cyclodextrin and an inorganic salt (preferably sodium bicarbonate).
