PURPOSE:To perform uniform and favorable corona discharge treatment to whatever thickness and form a matter to be treated may have, by performing the corona discharge treatment by bringing both an excitation electrode and confronting electrode into contact with the surface of the matter to be treated. CONSTITUTION:A matter 90 to be treated such as a synthetic resin molded product is arranged at the lower part of a corona discharge treatment device. The title device is constituted so that tips of an excitation electrode 40 and confronting electrode 50 are brought into contact with the surface of the matter 90 to be treated. When high-voltage is impressed to the excitation electrode 40 under this state, a strong electric field is generated between the grounded confronting electrode 50 and excitation electrode 40. Creepage corona discharge is generated with the electric field from a contacting point between the excita tion electrode 40 and matter 90 to be treated to a contacting point between the matter 90 to be treated and confronting electrode 50 through the surface of the matter 90 to be treated. With this creepage corona discharge, the surface of the matter 90 to be treated is corona-discharge-treated.
