<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an energy-converting composition which converts mechanical energy into electric energy and further into thermal energy, excels in mechanical properties, can damp selectively any vibration and is useful as a sound-proofing member by mixing a conductive substance with a piezoelectric ceramic and a polymer. CONSTITUTION:An energy-converting composition is formed from a conductive substance (e.g. carbon black) or a semiconductive substance (A) (e.g. Si, Cu2O or ZnO) of a particle diameter of desirably 0.5mum or below, more desirably 0.05mum or below, a piezoelectric ceramic (B) of a piezoelectric constant d33 of about 100 to several thousands X 10<-12>m/V, e.g. lanthanum lead zirconate titanate) and a polymer (C) (e.g. polyvinylidene fluoride). Component A is desirably added in an amount to give an internal resistivity of 10<5>-10<9>OMEGA.cm/desirably 10<6>-10<8>OMEGA.cm to the composite material, and component B is added in an amount of 40-80vol.%. based on the composite material.</p> |
