摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent light transmission characteristic in a visible to near IR region by providing a core part consisting of a polymer contg. deuterium or halogen atom and clad parts which enclose the core part and consist of a polymer having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core part. CONSTITUTION:The core part 3 consisting of the polymer contg. the deuterium or halogen atom and the clad parts 2, 7 which enclose the core part 3 and consist of the polymer having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core part 3. This plastic optical waveguide is formed by substituting the hydrogen in the plastic structure with the halogen atom of fluorine, etc., or deuterium in order to minify and shift the higher harmonic waves occurring in the carbon-hydrogen bond to a long wavelength side. The material itself is formed as the low-loss material and the performance of the optical waveguide is enhanced. The excellent light transmission characteristic in the visible to near IR region is obtd. in this way. The control of the refractive index difference between the core 3 and the clad 2 by the halogen atom content is possible as well.
