PURPOSE:To stably obtain a good quality image in repeating image formation by using a charge erasing lamp suitable for a photosensitive body which incorporates plural organic carrier generating materials including a polycyclic quinone pigment and is sensitized to a long wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body 10 incorporates the carrier generating materials such as the polycyclic quinone pigment and other organic carrier generating materials possessing their main photosensitive area on a side where a wavelength is longer than this pigment. Erasing exposure is carried out by erasing light possessing a wavelength component on the side where the wave length is longer than that of the photosensitive wavelength area of the polycyclic quinone pigment. At this time, the residual of previously formed electrostatic latent images and needless electric charges stuck by a transfer electrode, etc., are present on the photosensitive body 10, and so called ghost images are formed at the time of next image formation and causes the fatigue deterioration of the photosensitive body 10. Therefore, the charge erasing lamp 12 is provided between an electrifier 6 and a cleaning device 11 so as to remove the failures. Thus, the high-definition of the image can be obtained with less fatigue deteriora tion when the image formation is repeated. |
