PURPOSE: To reduce the number of component parts and also the costs through simplification of the structure, shorten the mounting time, and enhance the safety by moving parallel with vehicle body a semi-rigid cable attached to a slide door and extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A power slide door system 28 is formed from a semi-rigid cable 30 consisting of a first 32, a second 36 and a third wire 38 and bristles 34, a reversible motor 39, a solenoid clutch 40, a striker assembly 100 having a striker member 102, and a reversible striker motor 104. The cable 30 is attached to the door 16 and moved linearly approx. parallel with the longitudinal axis of the vehicle body 12 to open and close the door 16 automatically or manually without using any large-sized guide or takeup drum. In the whole stroke of the door 16, a decrease in its speed is sensed so as to preclude any object from being nipped by the door 16. |
