PURPOSE:To improve the lightness of a displayed picture by making the color selection member of a translucent substrate face to each picture element of a display means, and filling up a space between them with translucent material. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light source 2 is transmitted from one of the translucent substrate 11 formed by embedding plural microlenses 22 in it or the color selection member 9 to the other of them, and the light of a color determined beforehand at every picture element is selected, and simultaneously, the rays of light of these elements are converged by the micro-lenses 22 at every picture element of the display means 6. Even in the case the non- translucent area of the light other than the picture element is present on the display means 6, the light incident on the non-translucent area is converged to the picture element by the micro-lenses 22. Thus, a light color picture can be obtained. |
