PURPOSE:To measure a tune by adding position detecting windings and a synchronous detecting circuit to a magnetic core in a direct current measurement device of a charged particle storage ring. CONSTITUTION:A direct current monitor DCCT to be inserted into a storage ring is composed of a magnetic core, a drive winding for saturating the magnetic core, a current detecting winding and a processing circuit wherein the monitor measures a dc magnetic field generated by a beam going around the ring to convert it into a current value. When a beam position is eccentric, flux density induced into the magnetic core changes thereby permitting measurement of the beam position. Position detecting windings are applied to upper, lower, right and left parts of the magnetic core of the DCCT to pick up the magnetic flux in the core to obtain a position signal. The signal from the position monitors thus placed on the DCCT is input to a tracking generator, which permits a fluctuation in the beam position due to an applied frequency to be monitored so that a tune can be measured.
