An adhesion promoter and mortar additive, with stabilised viscosity and increased storability, contains (by wt. of total compsn.) upto 92% water, upto within +/- 6% of the water amt. of a combination of finely divided amorphous silica and synthetic polymer dispersion(s), and upto 4% non-ionic wetting agent, stabilisers and dispersing agents. (i) The amorphous silica contains at least 92 wt.% SiO2; (ii) the stabiliser is a cold water-swellable bentonite based on magnesium silicate, a finely divided high specific surface hydrophilic silicic acid mixed in a 4-8:1 ratio with Al oxide or a high specific surface hydrophilic Al oxide with at least 96 wt.% Al2O3 content, added in amt. 0.2-4.0% by wt. of total compsn.; and (iii) the dispersing additive is based on an aq. formaldehyde-naphthalenesulphonic acid condensate soln., added in amt. 0.05-2.0% (solids) by wt. of total compsn. |
