<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time for the operation to work optical parts and to reduce the cost thereof by immersing a part in the longitudinal direction of a continuous optical fiber into heated sulfuric acid for a specified period of time to intermittently remove a part of the coating in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 1 is let off by a specified unit length from a letting- off bobbin 2 and a part thereof is immersed for the specified period of time into a heated sulfuric acid tank 10, by which a part of the coating in the longitudinal direction is decomposed. The optical fiber 1 is then immersed for the specified period of time into a pure water tank 12 to remove the sulfuric acid stuck to the optical fiber. This optical fiber is taken up on a take-up bobbin 7. A partial straight part 72, etc., are previously formed on the take-up barrel part 71 of the bobbin 7 and the rotating position is previously mated at the point of the time when the taking-up starts in such a manner that the part 1a removed of the covering does not bridge in these parts and come into contact with the taking-up surface of the barrel part 71 of the bobbin. A part of the coating in the longitudinal direction of the continuous optical fiber 1 is intermittently removed in this way and the time for working at the time of utilizing this optical fiber 1 to the working of the optical parts is shortened and the reduction in cost is attained.</p> |
