Liq. cleanser is dispensed from appts. (9) in a sidewall (2) of the appliance, in predetermined doses to the rinsing chamber (3). The quantity is metered from a reservoir (10) into a dosing chamber (13) with outlets controlled by normally-closed electrically operated valves (19, 21). The water inlet (5) ends in a nozzle (8) entering the rinsing chamber (3) near the wall (2) and projecting into the outlet (17) so that water can flush the dosing chamber (13) when one valve (19) is open. ADVANTAGE - Requirement for water supply to rinsing chamber without simultaneous issue of cleanser is satisfied simply and inexpensively.
