PURPOSE:To maintain a cover in the opened and deformed state when an air bag device is operated and quickly and sufficiently largely deploy the air bag in all directions by burying a plastic deformation material in a cover. CONSTITUTION:The cover 18 of an air bag device fitted to a steering has side wall sections 18A and a top cover section 18B buried with reinforcing net bodies 30 respectively, and it is formed into a bottomless covered box shape. A plastic deformation material 32 is buried in the side wall sections 18A. When an inflator 22 is operated and an air bag 12 is deployed, the cover 18 is cleaved along a tear line 28, and the air bag 12 is deployed into a car room. The deformation attitude of the cover 18 when it is cleaved is held by the plastic deformation material 32, and the cover 18 is maintained in the opened state. The air bag 12 is quickly and sufficiently largely deployed in all directions. |
