The atomiser screws by a union nut (2) onto a vessel, contg the liq, and has a pump plunger (6) actuated by a pivoting handle (3) in opposition to a return spring (5). The pump chamber (7) is connected by a suction passage (11) to a non-return valve (13) in a hollow sealing plug portion (26) on the vessel, the plug portion also forming a vent passage to the vessel, whose connection to atmos is controlled by sealing hinges (8,9) on the plunger. The seals are so spaced that even when the piston is slid for the max distance, limited by a stop (39), the passage mouth is in the annular chamber and is connected to atmos by an axial vent groove (37) in the pump cylinder wall, whorter than the distance between the seals. Part of the vent passage between the annular flange and the plug portion is formed by a long groove at a press fit.
