The door, which is made of flexible material, is opened by winding the door onto a roller. The weight of the door is counterbalanced by a weight or weights (9). Each weight is fastened by a belt (8) to a pulley which is mounted on the shaft which carries the roller on to which the door is wound. The counter-balance weight slides inside the hollow door post (12) and is brought to rest by buffers (19). These buffers are so arranged that the balance weight strikes their upper surfaces shortly before the door reaches its highest position and before the brake is applied to the roller on which the door is wound.
