PURPOSE:To utilize light even from the periphery of a light guide by providing at least one lens, consisting of a cylindrical reflector having a flank for total reflection, to the emission-side tip of the light guide. CONSTITUTION:In front of a light guide 1, a concave lens 4 made of a single fiber is arranged, and it is equipped with a core 5 and a cladding material 6. The single fiber provided with the cladding material 6 is polished into the concave lens 4. The flank of this concave lens need not be polished and it is unnecessary to vapor-deposit a metallic film on the flank, so its manufacture is facilitated and its reflectivity is nearly 100%, obtaining superior performance as compared with the about 90% reflectivity of a lens having the metallic film vapor-deposited on the flank. |
