PURPOSE: To intensify stripping work of a liquid film stripper by forming the stripper as a swelling section protruded to a coolant flow side and forming a colliding face which is perpendicular to the flowing direction of the coolant flow on the inclined surface of the swelling section on the upstream side of the coolant flow. CONSTITUTION: A liquid film stripper is provided at a certain top part of a fuel assembly, especially, at a steam generating location over about 1/3 of the tops of the fuel rods. An inclined surface formed as a colliding face Pf is extended around the entire inside cross section of a water box. The cross section of a coolant flow which is temporarily narrowed on a 'rear' inclined surface Pb on the downstream side is again widened. The inclined surface Pb is formed in a swelling state and the transition sections of the inclined surface on both sides are little chamfered and form sharp edge sections Pk. Therefore, the liquid film stripping action of the stripper is intensified and vertical flow components Tr of liquid drops are increased.
