CONSTITUTION:In a valve timing control device in which a variable valve timing mechanism A to make the overlapping period of the suction and the exhaust variable is provided, and the mechanism A is operated by an actuator B, the car speed is used as the parameter to decide the control area, and a car speed detecting means C is provided. And the output signal of the car speed detecting means C is input to a control signal generating means D, and when the detected car speed is at a specific value or higher, the actuator B is controlled to output a control signal to increase the overlapping period of the suction and the exhaust. As a result, an unnecessary increase of the converting frequency of the valve timing by the influence of the engine rotation frequency variation generated following the speed change can be prevented.</p>
