A process for producing non-porous microcellular film comprising preparing a casting solution of a polymer; casting the polymer solution as a wet film onto a substrate; partially drying the cast film and concurrently contacting the film with an anti-solvent in vaporous form, thereafter drying the rim. The product is a film having a thin non-porous skin and a section having thin-walled cells. The non-porous skin is on that portion of the polymer exposed to the vaporous antisolvent atmosphere. |
