This invention concerns a method of constructing an exclusion matrix for resource allocation in radio systems, in particular a mobile radio system comprising base stations with respective coverage areas and mobile units. According to the invention field strengths are measured and/or calculated from all the base stations on the relevant traffic routes within the geographical area of the mobile radio system. The measured or calculated values are processed to create a downstream matrix, which describes the interference conditions for the transmitting base stations and receiving mobile and an upstream matrix which describes the interference conditions for the transmitting mobiles and receiving base station. The downstream and upstream matrices are made symmetrical and the exclusion matrix is created as the union of the downstream matrix and the upstream matrix, where the union of the matrices is defined as the matrix with the union of the corresponding element and the union of two matrix elements is defined as the element which represents the strongest interference. <IMAGE> |
