An inspection hatch comprising a cover panel 2 intended, when positioned, to cover an opening in a so-called pipe shaft has a first, fixed gripping member consisting of wall sections 4a, 4b projecting upwards from the rear of the cover panel and intended to grip around wall sections delimiting the opening, and a second gripping member 9, 10 which is movable counter to the action of a spring force 16. In the first part of their extent, the gripping members form angles to the cover panel.
