PURPOSE: To utilize resources by recording faults detected on the way of a diagnostic test before system operation and those detected on the way of system operation in distinction from each other to process faults recoverable in the field and unrecoverable faults in distinction from each other. CONSTITUTION: If a fault is detected during the zone diagnostic test, it is recorded in a P-ROM of a CPU module 30, and a CPU 50 switches a zone 11 to the console mode so that the fault can be repaired in the field. When the zone diagnostic test results in success, the zone 11 assesses the state of a zone 11' through cross links 90 and 95. Next, it performs the system diagnostic test; and if a fault is detected, information of this fault is recorded in the P-ROM, and a faulty module is excluded from the system. Thus, faults recoverable in the field and unrecoverable faults are processed in distinction from each other to utilize the resources. |
