PURPOSE:To ensure a sufficient creeping distance even when a crack is generated in an insulator, and to obtain the title superconducting coil having high withstand voltage strength by forming a non-adhesive split section inclined in the thickness direction to the insulator covering a superconductor. CONSTITUTION:Non-adhesive split sections 4 inclined in the thickness direction are formed to an insulator 3 covering a superconductor 1. A coil conductor is composed of a superconducting wire 1, through which currents are made to flow, a conductor conduit 2 housing the superconducting wire 1 and filling the role of a liquid helium flow path and the insulator 3 covering the conduit 2. The split sections 4 inclined to the coil conductor are shaped to the insulator 3. Accordingly, even when a crack is generated by excess thermal stress generated in the insulator by the difference of the rates of heat shrinkage of the conductor conduit and the insulator or excess electromagnetic stress generated in the insulator by electromagnetic force at the time of conduction through a coil in a cooling process from normal temperature to a cryogenic temperature, the crack of the insulator is generated in the predetermined split section, and stress is released, thus soundly keeping the insulator of other sections. |
