PURPOSE:To shorten the moving distance of a replacing means, when a charged battery is searched, and to make uniform the frequency of use of each battery by always searching and taking out such charged battery as having shortest distance along the direction of replacing sequence with reference to an empty shelf. CONSTITUTION:An unmanned truck 4 mounting a battery 2 having reduced capacity is forwarded from a carrying path 10 through a guide path 11 to a truck guide section 5 and stops at a predetermined position. A replacing means 7 runs a mast 19 or lifting/lowering a cage 20 so that the battery 2 mounted on the stopped truck 4 is contained in an empty shelf 16 of a charging shelf 1. The replacing means 7 then searches such charged battery 2 in the shelf 16 as having shortest distance along the direction of replacing sequence, takes out the searched battery 2 and mounts the battery 2 on the unmanned truck 4 thus completing replacement of battery 2. |
