a) The present invention relates to a latching device for a connecting plug of a telecommunications appliance, b) characterised in that the cover (6') includes a boss (10) turned outwards, the inner part of which is pierced and threaded and the outer periphery of which acts as a guide surface for a sleeve (14) carrying a latching blade (17) and equipped at its end with a radial piston lock (15) accommodating a safety key and fitted with a threaded rod capable of interacting with the threading of the boss (10), the rotation of the safety key entailing the movement of the sleeve (14) along the boss (10), between a release position in which these two elements (10, 14) are independent, in such a way that the male connector (1) can be freely put in place in the female connector or withdrawn from the latter, and a latching position in which the latching blade (17) covers over and lies against the outer face (13) of the male connector (1) so as to prevent any movement of the latter. <IMAGE>
