<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic recording medium having excellent surface smoothness and excellent durability for high density recording by crosslinking a magnetic layer contg. respectively specified magnetic powder and binder by a separately specified crosslinking agent, thereby constituting the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium is constituted by crosslinking the magnetic layer contg. the magnetic powder and the binder by the crosslinking agent selected from polyisocyanate, polyamine and polythiol. The magnetic powder has >=35m<2>/g specific surface area and the equil. adsorption rate of the myristic acid in a methyl ethyl ketone soln. of 0.6g/100ml equil. concn. is specified to <=0.5mg/m<2>. The binder has the hydrophilic group selected from SO3M, SO4M, PO4M2, and N<+>R<1>R<2>R<3>X<-> and the reactive group selected from a hydroxyl group, thiol group, amino group, and epoxy group. In the formula, M denotes hydrogen, ammonium or alkaline metal; R<1>, R<2>, R<3> respectively denote an alkali group and X denotes anion.</p> |
