PURPOSE:To obtain a bubble/residual amount of ink detector for detecting a bubble intruded into an ink feed path or a recording head by disposing one of a pair of electrodes, in an electrode type residual ink amount detecting circuit, in the recording head while disposing the other in an ink tank. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 13 in a head is disposed at the upper part of a common liquid chamber 12 in a recording head 1 and connected through a flexible cable 7 with a residual ink amount detecting circuit 16. A rod type electrode 14 is disposed in a tank 2 for storing ink 17 with the lower end thereof reaching to the vicinity of the bottom of the tank, and the electrode 14 is connected through the flexible cable 7 with the residual ink amount detecting circuit 16. When a bubble intrudes into an ink feed path or the recording head and clogs the ink feed path or covers the electrode in the head, the electrodes in the head and the ink tank are brought into non-conducting state and a detection signal is outputted from the residual ink amount detecting circuit. By such arrangement, residual amount of ink in the ink tank can be detected and insufficient delivery of ink can be prevented. |
