PURPOSE:To prevent insufficient delivery of ink or defective recording due to clogging of the delivery port in a recording head by providing means for controlling the start of recording such that a suction means sucks ink through an ink delivery port upon elapse of a predetermined time after capping of the recording head. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recorder comprises means 12 for sucking ink through an ink suction port, means 15 for measuring time upon capping of a recording head 1, and means 100 for controlling the start of recording such that the suction means 12 sucks ink through the ink delivery port upon elapse of a predetermined time after capping of the recording head 1. By such arrangement, insufficient delivery of ink or defective recording due to clogging of the delivery port in the recording head can be prevented effectively even when non-recording state sustains for a long time. |
