A heat treating method for spring steel is characterized by following processes; (1) hating it, that consists of 0.5-0.65 C, 1.20-1.60% Si, 0.5-0-% Cr, and the remainder of Fe and unavoidable impurities, in wt.%, at 850-950 deg.C, quenching in a conventional method, and tempering it at 600-700 deg.C for 1-15 min; (2) heating it, that composition is 0.5-0.65 C, 1.20-1.80% Si, 0.1-0-2% V, balance Fe, and unavoidable impurities, in wt.%, at 850-950 deg.C, quenching in a conventional method, and tempering it at 600-700 deg.C for 1-15 min. This method decreases tempering time and increases productivity of spring steel.
