PURPOSE:To destruct a thermally transferable ink ribbon using a simple device by folding the ink layers of an ink ribbon so that they face each other or putting the ink layers of two ink ribbons together to be opposed to each other, then thermally fusing the ink ribbon by heating under pressure. CONSTITUTION:An ink ribbon 11 consists of a base 11a and an ink layer 11b and the ink layer 11b is provided on one surface of the base 11a. The ink ribbon 11 is folded using an ink ribbon folding device 12 and the ink ribbon folding device 12 folds the ink ribbon 11 widthwise so that the ink layers 11b of the ink ribbon 11 come to face each other. When the folded ink ribbon 11C passes through space between a heating device 13 and a pressing device 14, the folded ink ribbon 11C is heated using the heating device 13 and is pressed using the pressing device 14. Thus the opposed ink layers are thermally fused. Subsequently, the ink ribbon is destructed and reading information in the used ink ribbon is impossible. |
