PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound, having high safety, advantageous also to post-treatment and useful for producing antimicrobial compounds by treating a specific compound in the presence of fungal cells, etc., of a mold belonging to the genus Aspergillus. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I (Xa and Xb are halogen) is treated in the presence of fungal cells of a mold belonging to the genuses Aspergillus (e.g. Aspergillus ochraceus), Mucor (e.g. Mucor javanicus), Helicostylum (e.g. Helicostylum piriforme), Absidia (e.g. Absidia orchidis) and Penicillium (e.g. Penicillium lilacinum), its culture or an extract therefrom to afford the objective compound expressed by formula II. |
