The heater or other electrically operated accessory (6) is switched on and off by a controller (5) to which signals are supplied from a decoder (10) of messages received by the remote switching unit (1'), and relayed (3) e.g. by an acoustic coupler (7). A call to the number assigned to the vehicle's radiotelephone installation activates the loudspeaker (9) whose output is picked up by a microphone (8). The decoder (10) times the duration of the call, and activates the controller (5) after a delay of e.g. 1 second. USE - For operation of air conditioner, sliding roof or alarm installation.
