Machine for treating continuous material web

The machine treating a continuous material web (10) has a rotary drum (11), over which the web is passed. The web is unwound from a roll mounted at one side of the drum. After passing over the drum the web is fed into a retaining trough (30), mounted on the side of the machine opposite to that of the roll. This retaining trough has a curved cross-section at a lower level than the drum and parallel to the drum axis. The web is guided back into the trough by a stationary guide surface (32).
