The web (10) treating machine has a rotary drum (11), over which the web is passed, after unwinding from a roll mounted at one side of the drum. After passing over the drum the web is formed into a roll by a group of rollers (130). The rollers are mounted with their axes parallel to the axis of the drum, but at a level lower than that of the drum. In addition to the group of rollers, the material is guided by a stationary guide (132) to be so deflected that it is formed into a roll.
