An improved system for recording and reproducing video data in the form of FM signals. Square-wave FM signals having a frequency twice as great as that of FM recording signals are formed and the pulse polarities of the formed FM signals are inverted every other pulse to generate three-level FM signals, which are then recorded onto a recording medium and are reproduced therefrom. This makes it possible to record and reproduce pictures maintaining high resolution and quality without suffering moire or beat interference. |
