23843-230 A refractory discharge arrangement comprises an immersion discharge tube (1) and a separate outer sheathing (5) which is fastened to the discharge tube and which, during operation, is positioned in the area of the casting powder layer of a molten steel. A longer service life is achieved in that the outer sheathing (5) consists of zirconium oxide which is free from carbon and is bonded directly by burning or firing at a high temperature, and the immersion discharge tube (1) consists essentially of carbon-bonded magnesium oxide or also of carbon-bonded aluminium oxide or vitreous fused silica.
