The invention relates to a device for slitting paper on jumbo reels, so-called tambours, comprising a slitting element 1 having a wedge 2 which in the lateral direction is relatively narrow and has a wedge angle which is formed between a slitting spine 8 and an essentially flat sole 9 intended to slide against the paper layer which is gradually exposed in the course of the slitting. The slitting element 1 comprises a slitting knife 25 having an arm 3 extending from the rear section of the wedge 2 forwards over the slitting spine 8 and past the slitting point 10. Rolling members 14,15 in the form of at least one roller or at least one pair of wheels are disposed on the slitting element at a distance in front of the slitting point, which rolling members are arranged to roll during the slitting against the outer paper layer of the jumbo reel 36. A pull cable 13 is attached to the slitting element and a motor 30 is arranged to exert a tensile force in the pull cable during slitting and hence lend necessary force to the slitting knife for the slitting operation. <IMAGE> |
