Body for automatic door closer - is formed from aluminium or plastics extrusion

The door closer has a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder which encloses the actuating piston and spring. The cylinder is formed by the inner part of an aluminium or plastics extrusion. This extrusion has a rectangular outer cross-section with ribs extending inwards form the outer wall to support the cylinder. The extrusion is fastened to the door frame by one of its flat sides and the bolt heads fit in the spaces between the ribs. In an alternative design, the extrusion has a solid rectangular cross-section with a central hole forming the cylinder.
