PURPOSE: To easily observe the anatomic status of coronary arteries with the X-ray fluoroscopy by providing a means having a medium radiation non- transmission level extended along the corresponding part of a catheter thereon at a position nearer to the base end of a means having a high radiation non- transmission level. CONSTITUTION: A helical coil 50 and a marker band 72 are formed out of a material having a high radiopacity such as platinum or an alloy containing a large amount of platinum for uses as a slender radiopacity element extended along almost all or the whole of the tip of a catheter. In addition, a radiopacity image formed along the length of the forward end of the catheter is made dark enough, but not at such a level as obstructing the detailed observation of the anatomic status of the coronary arteries via the injection of a radiopacity contrast fluid. Also, the radiation non-transmission level of the forward end of the catheter is kept so that a gray image is generated, compared with an extremely dark image formed on the forward end and the marker band 72 due to the radiopacity coil 50. |
