The water-contg. solid suspension can be made from materials of natural or synthetic origin, e.g., clays, spent Fullers earth and the red mud byprod. of aluminium prodn.. In the environmental protection field, this can be a substance, e.g., magnesium, aluminium or a long-chain amine, or an adsorption or absorption agent, e.g., hard paraffin, Vaseline or bitumen, which immobilises and fixes harmful substances.
