PURPOSE: To improve antioxidation activity, bile acid binding ability and water binding ability by heating and mixing an aq. slurry of pulverized plant fibers under special conditions. CONSTITUTION: The aq. slurry of the lignose plant fiber material of pH1 to 14 prepd. by using or unusing an acid or base is put into a feed tank/mixer 11 and is introduced through a volume type pump 12 and a connecting pipe 18 into a mixing T pipe 13. This slurry is then mixed with steam supplied through a control valve 20 from a steam generator 16 having a pressure controller and the mixture is introduced into a continuous flow reaction pipe 14 where the mixture is heated and mixed for 5 to 90 seconds at 150 to 300 deg.C while the liquid is maintained. Next, the mixture is rapidly cooled down to the atm. pressure by the adiabatic flashes generated at a release orifice 15 and is then passed through a water-cooled condenser/cooler 17, by which the mixture is cooled to an air temp. The mixture is thereafter recovered into a recovering device 19. |
