PURPOSE:To obtain a heat generating composition which is used for a handy heating device for food and drink, can control the volume expansion when heat is generated, and can realize a smaller heating device by putting a material that generates heat when water is added thereto and an alum together in layers or in the form of concentric circles. CONSTITUTION:A material (A) that generates heat when water is added thereto, e.g. a mixture of a persulfuric acid salt and calcium oxide and/or magnesium oxide, if necessary, containing an alkali (alkaline earth) metal halide and an alum (B) are put together in layers or in the form of concentric circles, or component B is incorporated into component A to give a heat generating composition. The use of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal halide in combination can improve the initial heat generation characteristics. It is desirable that the amount of component B to be added is 5-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. heat generating composition and that component A consists of 100 pts.wt. persulfuric acid salt and 50-250 pts.wt. calcium oxide and/or magnesium oxide. |
