A dispense valve (10) for dispensing particulate material from a vending machine and comprising a valve member (30), a valve body (12) incorporating a dispense passage (42), and valve guide means (25) for said valve member, whereby, in a datum position, said valve member obturates the passage, characterised in that the valve member is capable of oscillation within said guide means to allow dispensing of said particulate ingredients, and in that said guide means is closed at an end remote from said datum position by an impact plate (26) which is adapted to be struck by said member during oscillation to impart vibrations to assist dispensing thereof, the material of said impact plate and/or the material of the member being selected such that the sound generated by the member is reduced without substantially reducing the efficiency of the dispensing of the particular material. |
