PURPOSE:To form a color image without being contaminated by developer or cleaning liquid by conveying a transfer paper above plural photosensitive bodies juxtaposed in a line by use of a dielectric belt which extends so as to come in contact with the respective photosensitive bodies. CONSTITUTION:Four photosensitive bodies 11 for separating color are juxtaposed in a line at equal intervals in an image forming part 2. The conveying belt 28 of a conveying belt device 3 arranged above the image forming part 2 is formed of dielectric. The transfer paper is electrostatically attracted by the conveying belt 28 which is electrostatically charged and successively conveyed to the transfer position of the respective photosensitive bodies as the belt 28 moves so that the image may be transferred to the paper. The transfer paper is destaticized and separated from the belt 28 and ejected after the image is fixed. Electrostatically charged charge and the electrostatically charged charge for electrostatic attraction remaining on the belt 28 from which the transfer paper is separated are eliminated by destaticizing chargers 35 and 36, and the belt 28 is cleaned, initialized and restored to a home position. Thus, the color mixture of the developer is prevented and the conveying belt, the transfer paper and the transfer charger are prevented from being contaminated by the developer because the conveying belt and the transfer paper travel in the upper part than the plural photosensitive bodies. |
